'Compulsive Art' Light Installation at Aesthetica Film Festival Fringe

AY-PE in collaboration with Fabrication - a social enterprise of artists, designers and craft persons, are proud to co-deliver a free to see, light projection show 'Compulsive Art', as part of the Aesthetica Short Film Festival 'Fringe' Events.

In a first for York city centre, the show will be projected on the world famous historic Stonegate. Set within Fabrication's store at 32 Stonegate - between 6 - 8pm, on Thursday 6, Friday 7 and Saturday 8 November, windows will burst alive with motion vibrancy, media art and evocative sound. Passers-by are enticed and welcomed to watch this free collaborative production where AY-PE's digital media artisty meets Fabrication's tactile, physical designs.

Inspired by the diverse artistic creations made by Fabrication's many independent designers, and propelled by the fires that drive the passion of art, the installation is a dynamic, fun and powerful interpretation of the compulsion to make art. A powerful message to captivate those wondering the streets of York - the UK's only UNESCO City of Media Arts.

Showing at intervals between 6 - 8pm, the free to see 4 minute 'Compulsive Art' light and sound performance is designed to inspire and connect with all ages. Please note: audiences will watch from the open street (not in the store) so parental guidance is suggested.

Aesthetica Film Festival is a BAFTA-Qualifying event held annually in York, now in its 15th year. New for 2025, there is a 'Fringe' to the Festival, with many artist-led events: part of a citywide cultural programme, transforming York into a creative playground throughout November.
