AIRCRAFT FACTORY
Finalist of the prestigious UK Art Fund Prize and winner of Museum & Heritage Permanent Exhibition of the Year, the £multi-million regeneration of Brooklands Museum and its new experience the 'Aircraft Factory', tells the powerful story of aviation design in the UK.
Alongside the RAA exhibition design vision, AY-PE created and installed 23 multimedia exhibits explaining the history of aircraft design and manufacture, as well as broadening audiences and inspiring a new generation of engineers, designers and makers.

AVIATION AWE
Alongside client expert guidance, AY-PE researched, treated and edited still and moving archive, creating inspirational, engaging films on aircraft assembly evolution. Using 3D projection mapping and wall adaptation to improve viewing on corrugated walls, large, dynamic films are projected across the hangar.

Various screens throughout the hangar show workshop specific archive edits and modern recordings: current day engineering at Brooklands, the craftmanship/ skill of engineering and the timelapse movement of the Bellman Hangar itself.
YOU'RE THE DESIGNER
Four different touch interactive experiences were created from concept and wireframe to UI UX design, programming, user testing and install. Each experience related to the others in look and feel, but also evolved in style and gameplay, as their topics change from exploring principles of flight, through war plane development, civil aviation and then letting visitors design their future of aircraft.

With Future Aircraft interactive, visitors are given the power to decide what their design priorities might be in making aircraft - choosing around sustainability, materials, efficiency and more. Once created the visitor names their craft and launches it into circulation on a large-scale LED repeater wall, watching to see how it compares amongst a sky full of other designs.
LIVING FACTORY
Our diverse soundscaping immerses the visitor in a ‘living factory’ – chatter around the clocking-in machine, industrious hammering, welding and more. Researching, designing, producing and balancing the atmosphere, our factory audio gives an authentic experience.

AY-PE produced the audio content for 10 different audio points around the museum, delivering easily-digestible topics including life in and outside of the flight shed, as well as personal stories through war and peace-time in the factory.
